We would like to find a few Volunteers to help with our two major events each year. In early Spring, we hold our Annual Atai Orphanage Fund Trivia Night, and in the Fall, we hold the Annual Atai Orphanage Fund Dinner Auction. Volunteers will have a variety of projects to choose from, such as pre-event activities of soliciting businesses for gift cards/certificates, door prize items, etc. They may be building gift baskets for silent auctions, creating seating charts, and/or setting up and decorating event venues. We also need help at the events each year. Volunteers might be hosting the reception tables to collect tickets/payments and to cash out auction items, or they might be running raffle tickets, overseeing silent auctions, or selling Atai merch, among other activities. We would also like to add a few members to the Atai Orphanage Board of Directors. Thank you!

Marygrove

Sharing the love of Jesus Christ, Marygrove provides a safe home, compassionate care, and high-quality mental health services to children who have experienced significant trauma, to restore their childhood, and equip them for their future.

Established in 1849 by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Marygrove has a long, rich history of caring for children, teens, and young adults – offering a compassionate, safe, and healing environment. The children and adolescents who come to Marygrove have endured multiple failed placements at other organizations, cycled through foster homes, or even survived failed adoptions. Many come from abusive, violent, and severely disruptive family situations; and, in a few instances, are discharged from psychiatric hospitals directly to Marygrove. The children at Marygrove live and grow in a safe, nurturing environment, and have opportunity to heal in a stable, family-like setting. Professional caregivers provide compassion, encouragement, and structure while therapists provide individualized treatment plans and counseling to help each child overcome personal obstacles and establish responsible, attainable goals for the short and long-term future.

As one of the largest therapeutic residential treatment programs in Missouri, Marygrove is a new beginning for the 140 children who call Marygrove their home each day. Marygrove enriches the lives of nearly 700 young people each year, ages birth-21, through a broad continuum of residential and community-based programming and wraparound services, including therapeutic residential treatment and foster care, transitional and independent living, special education and recreational therapy, family counseling, and parenting education.

Queen of Peace Center

Since its founding in 1985, Queen of Peace Center (QOPC) has been providing family-centered behavioral healthcare for women, children and families.  As a member of the Federation of Catholic Charities, we serve the metropolitan and surrounding St. Louis area through four core programs: prevention, education, treatment and housing.

Our unique comprehensive model addresses the full continuum of needs for families impacted by substance use, co-occurring disorders and trauma. We are dedicated to providing services that give women and children the best chance for success by offering quality treatment; helping them meet their physical, psychological, emotional and social needs; and making our services as safe, convenient, and accessible as possible. Our prevention and education programs are our mechanism to stop substance use before it starts. We support our work through diverse partnerships with funders including public agencies, private foundations, donors and corporations—and we optimize reimbursement from insurance and other payers by promoting our model as best practice to encourage wide adoption and coverage.

Queen of Peace Center is accredited by The National Council on Accreditation and certified through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Behavioral Health as a Women and Children’s Comprehensive Substance Treatment and Rehabilitation (CSTAR) program.

Restored For More

Schools and tutoring programs already exist to empower youth with an educational foundation to support their future, but oftentimes with limited resources and personnel. In St. Louis Public Schools only 5% of elementary students tested at or above the proficient level for reading, and only 14% for math. Bottom line-schools where students do not meet state standards are struggling to prepare students to succeed in life and they need help. We want to be a part of the solution by targeting schools and tutoring programs that serve majority economically-disadvantaged students whose academic proficiency standards are well below that of the state and national average.

Through our nonprofit, we are LINKING ARMS with these schools, tutoring programs, and youth-based non-profit corporations in Saint Louis City and County by sending trained and approved volunteers to support students and teachers. Our volunteers are trained to work with students 1:1 or in small groups who have deficits in Math and ELA. We believe that by providing one on one support, students will not only grow closer to state tested proficiency levels but their confidence that they can be successful and achieve their full potential will increase.

We are actively looking for volunteers who are willing to tutor at least 1 economically disadvantaged student per week for at least 40 minutes a week at a local St. Louis City or County School or Organization. Based on volunteer availability, we can pair you with the best school site that meets your need. We resource all of our volunteers with training and materials needed and partner with organizations that are doing the same. This is a great opportunity for retired teachers, grandparents, aunts, education-students: anyone who has a heart for the youth of St. Louis to succeed.

Safe Families for Children

Safe Families for Children

Safe Families for Children is a volunteer movement which surrounds families in crisis with a compassionate and caring community. Our volunteer Host Families are trained, vetted, and offer loving care to parents by providing respite care for children while parents/caregivers regain stability. We aim to facilitate a relationship between the Host Families and the parents, in which the host family becomes a kind of “extended family.” While the parents are working towards goals and stability, our case management team comes alongside both them and the children to ensure they have access to necessary resources. This is a voluntary program, which means the parents maintain all legal rights and can voluntarily end their child’s placement with a host family at any time. Some examples of families we have served include those in a medical crisis (i.e., recovering from a surgery and needing supervision for their children), homelessness and parents needing time to maintain stable housing, or any other overwhelming life circumstance in which a parent(s) need support.
