Knowing Jesus

Knowing Jesus

How do I begin a relationship with God?

If you have a desire to know God, then His Holy Spirit is already working in your life. The next “steps” are not a “to do” list. Rather, an understanding of what has already been done…for you.

We have all fallen short of God’s perfect standard (Romans 3:23). He is Holy. We are not. Since we can’t work our way to a perfect God, He bridged the gap by sending His son, Jesus.

Knowing Jesus

“At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly….. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ” Romans 5:6-8

Trust Him

Jesus, the Son of God, died on the cross for our sin, paying a penalty that we couldn’t pay. When you acknowledge that Jesus died for your sin and receive the gift of grace and forgiveness that He offers, you are saved.

“Believe (trust) in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Here is a sample prayer:

“Dear God, I know that I have sinned and disappointed you. I need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sin. I want to turn from my sin and follow you. I trust you as my Savior and ask you to take control of my life. Thank you for forgiving me and inviting me into your family. I love you. In Jesus name, amen.”
