I think I understood what God did for me before I understood His heart for me. He sent Jesus, who died for us and rose from the dead. That’s what He did. But here is why He did it:
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.” 1 John 3:1
For years, I think I viewed the cross as what God did…a transaction. I needed saving. So, He saved me. And you. I knew what God did for me long before I understood His heart for me. Everything God did and continues to do flows from His heart for us. He doesn’t view us a transaction. He loves us as His children. Don’t settle for a transaction or a “what have you done for me lately” kind of love. His heart is for you. Embrace the lavish love that God has for you today. – Sandi
