You Have a New Name

My senior in High School, I changed the spelling of my name from Sandy to Sandi. (Since my legal name was Sandra, it was no big deal.) But the reason behind the name change was a big deal. I surrendered my life to Christ. The name change was my way of reminding myself and saying to others: I am not who I was.

“When a woman who had lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was in the house….she wet Jesus’ feet with her tears. Then wiped them with her, kissed them and poured perfume on them.” Luke 7:37-38

Her name is not given in scripture. She is only known as a sinful woman. At least, that’s how the crowd saw her. Jesus described her as one who had been forgiven and loved very much. You are not who you were. You can live in the freedom and forgiveness of Jesus. He has given you a name: forgiven. – Sandi
